Editing

OKAY SO

Now that my whole memory thing was figured out and I was able to get feedback in critique groups, I started editing and so far so good. I like the way the lighting of the card reading scenes contrasts with memories scenes. I'm so happy with what I've done and if I'm being honest I'm pretty proud of myself. I worked really hard on this and although I'm pretty nervous for people to see it, I kind of really want them to so I can get feedback on what I can do better. My biggest struggle right now is the fact that some memories are a lot lighter than others and I really want them to be equally as bright.
This memory of the two characters meeting
is beautiful and extremely bright which I love.
On the other hand, this shot is darker and although still vibrant
in color,I feel like it's not enough and clearly not the same.

I found this setting at the top that allows me to brighten the clip and emphasize the colors but I feel like it makes the shot lose quality:

before
after

I'm not really sure if that's just me imagining it so I'm just going to keep it. Towards the end, when the realization part of the film is coming to play I'm going to make the bright memories a little bit darker because they are being tainted with the realization that it wasn't love anymore. I'm still in the process of editing and if I don't finish by tonight I'm going to finish tomorrow. I really need to figure out the music I want to use as well because I don't want it to be cheesy but I'm having a hard time finding something that I feel fits with the tone and the story I'm trying to tell. After meeting in groups Friday I asked if they knew any good sites and Alexa recommended one I didn't know about which was incompetech.com. Once I finish ordering all my shots and move on to audio I'm going to look in to the website and see if I can find what I'm looking for. Hopefully I can!
   Until next time

Memory mess is no longer a mess

HELLO

OKAY SO, I figured it out. Today I can finally start editing!! When I say I have been trying to figure this out this entire week I'm not exaggerating. I literally tried everything and I was just about over it until I found a clean my mac download and was able to clean my entire computer of the life-ruining 'other' files.

It's a beautiful sight. I was going to use premier pro, but since I don't have a bunch of time to learn the whole system in depth, I thought it was better to just use iMovie and go from there! I'll be posting some progress on my editing in my next post!
    Until next time,

My memory mess

Hello again,

So basically my life is a mess. I get home and I'm ready to start editing. I get my computer I'm ready to do everything to finally have this come alive, only to find out my computer has no  storage to even put clips inside my computer. When I say I tried everything, I mean everything. I deleted all my pictures, music, apps anything that you could possibly think of, and still 88.0 GB of my computer was 'Other.' I am literally so upset I've talked to all my friends and they just tell me 'oh you just need to delete other!' and I say 'wow who would've guessed! BUT I CAN'T because I don't even know what 'other' is. I haven't been this aggravated before in my entire life. I feel like I've done every possible thing I could do to add more storage on my computer and it's still not enough. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT I DELETED SOME NICE PICTURES AND MEMORIES. Whatever, honestly I'm over it I'll do my best to try and figure it out and get an app that cleans all these huge files that are RUINING MY LIFE.

In other news,  I started my website and I like the way it's  organized, even though Wix makes everything easier, I get aggravated with the whole pages thing because I haven't figured out how to organize it so that  but I'm starting to get the hang of it. As of right now this is the basic thing I did (picture isn't mine):

On my home page I will have a still that I took while filming the reading scene and on the other pages I will probably alternate with stills from flashback scenes and reading scenes. I'm still in the process of writing what will be on each page but yeah.
   Until next time,

FINAL POST CARD DESIGN

HELLO

OKAY SO I just got home from the airport to do this final post for the week.I have finalized exactly what I want my post card to look like compositionally and I really like it. I decided I wanted to use the background of the moon card because its the one that has the least amount of things going on which allows me to incorporate the most important elements which were the sun, moon, and stars from the cards themselves. Here is a picture of what I sketched out in my book of the basic idea:
I also decided that I would make the moon and sun upside down to show that part of the card being reversed. I also wanted to put the moon on the top right where the shadow on Eva's face to emphasize her losing a part of herself. I want it to look like an actual tarot card so I want to put a filter on her that makes her look as if she's been drawn on to the card for the full effect. The whole background of the sky I decided instead of it being blue it would be purple and then with Eva's yellow shirt and the red outline of the symbols i would have incorporated every color like I had originally wanted to. I'm just really excited to see how it turns out once I do it because there's so much symbolism of my story in it with the colors and the shadows and all of that so we'll see how it turns out.

          Until next time,

Post card brainstorming continues

HELLO

OKAY SO I've had an epiphany. I decided that my lat idea really wasn't doing it for me because it was too plain and I was thinking of how those colors wold mesh together and I wasn't a fan. SO what I am now thinking of doing, is having different aspects of each card I'm using in the reading: The sun, star and moon, in the background instead of the 3 colors. I would still be making Eva the main focus and placing her dead in the center, but around her would be little details from each card. I'm even thinking of changing some of the colors around to make it go with the colors of each character of the film.
So I know for sure I'm going to have the white stars surrounding her but not too much so that it doesn't completely take away from her and all the other elements of the card. I'm thinking of making the sky a purple color to go with the colors and making the outline of the sun moon and stars to be red so that all the colors are represented. I'm saying all this now but there's a possibility it may not work because I haven't actually tried to do all of it over the picture I want to use but its good to have options and I'm really excited to see how it comes out!! Here is the picture I decided I wanted to use for the post card and I can't even begin to explain how much I love it.

I really love the way the yellow of her shirt is so vibrant and I love the shadow on her face, kind of showing how a part of her is starting to fade into this darkness because of this relationship. In my next post I'm going to see how I can draw over it and show exactly how I want it!
      Until next time,
